Just to let all who didn't know, it's the same thing pressing the on 1 time as it is pressing it 100 times! The stop lights and cross walk signals are on a regular timed basis and once the cross walk on has been pushed the first time, you've let the light know to change for pedestrian crossing! How important is literacy?

The importance of literacy is beyond measure. An illiterate person is at a disadvantage in every aspect of life w/in society. Illiteracy influences employability and therefore quality of life. It is a sad fact that in spite of the efforts of many educators, volunteers, political representatives/funding, etc. there are still many illiterate people in the US. As a reading teacher of Title I/ESL students, I find that part of the challenge is that many of the children are from families where parents are working 2 or more jobs, and simply are not home to read to/listen to their children read. Another challenge is that many people focus a lot on the technical aspects of teaching someone to read, and they leave out teaching the pure enjoyment and lovely intimacy of sharing a story with their children. Literacy should be a number one priority for us all, because the more literate our society is, the better the quality of life will be for everyone. Volunteer to help someone learn to read today! To change for the better?

I have been thinking of changing my image forever. I am 17 and most girls I know, know me as a "sweet and nice guy". My best friend is what I call a "bad ***". Now when we are together, we are both equally "bad ***" but separated I tend to care a lot more for girls. As in, I would listen to their problems and help out. He wouldn't do anything of the sort. But he seems to get more "action". Now I don't actually think "action" is a good thing for m because I think a serious relationship is better but I turned desperate. I tend to listen to my best friend because I always envied his success with girls. I tended to be the straight, mannered, caring guy with good grades and he was the party animal, drinking, doing drugs , treating girls badly, and failing cles. I started to get an "unloved vibe" and I asked my friend for help. he promised to help me out. He said girls only like "es" and that to be loved is to become one. His idea was that girls only like nice guys when they have had all their fun with 50 "es" and are no longer young and want to use the nice guy for financial security. This got me sad because I wanted love too and I asked him to change me up. Under his supervision, I lost about 50 pounds, gained a 4 pack, learned how to fight, and started to treat girls terribly. Many of the girls I used to be friends with missed me because I wasn't there to be the friend that I used to beHe convinced me that, for my happiness, it was best to treat em badly. I lost my straight edge ness because he said drinking and drugs would attract girls to me. Sadly, it did. Girls I never knew started to like me. I felt bad for losing my morals, but I finally had the thing I wanted the most, some actual affection.

Has anyone else experienced this while taking Yaz ?

I have PCOS and the gynae put me on Yaz to try and regulate my periods, will be TTC from Jan. I stopped having regular periods when I stopped taking Yasmine in Feb and an ovarion cyst burst - I would have spotting for 1 day every few months. I was on 2 ten day courses of Utrogestan which both brought on normal periods. However, I started on the Yaz a few months ago, and had constant nausea , cramping which felt like it originated in my right ovary (the one that's covered in cysts) and tenderness. 5 days into the placebos I started the worst period ever - so heavy that I was up all night changing tampons, terrible pain the my right ovary, back pain the was so bad I couldn't stand up straight, and general weakness and low blood pressure. Is this a bad reaction to the Yaz, a PCOS related thing, or something more sinister?

Does halo 3 really suck?

I have visited countless forums and found vague points on why halo sucks. Sure its not COD4, where you can shoot thru walls, or gears of war or RSV where there is a intuitive cover system. And yes we all know how repetitive the campaign mode can be in halo games. But what really draws me out to halo is its multi player. The pace is just right for me and i was never the one to stand still and wait for enemies to come to me in video games. What makes the halo franchise great is its multi player where Bungie went back to the basics of what a game should be. The fast easy game play not to complicated and skill to use each weapon. Sure even i know that the weapons are unrealistic like the sniper rifle has no kickback. But it takes time to get skilled using weapons effectively in halo, and that is why people don't like the game. They don't have knowledge of halo's weapons.

not sure where you are at or what temp. it is so is hard to say. If I had to pick off your list and If it is summer and hot I would pick the tilapia meal but replace with rice from A. I myself like to kind of go Tapas in the summer. I would start with a nice cold salad with some raw veggies and maybe rasberries and almond slices. A rice dish, meat of your choice cut to share, flat iron steak is great for this as is talapia. A mix of veggies tossed in a bit of er n olive oil with spice, rolled ham, w/ asparagus and cream cheese n chive wrapped in crossant to bake, nice fresh bread or rolls and finish with something cold, italian ice or sorbete, or you can chill pound cake and top with fresh berries soaked in anything from just water n sugar to your favorite liquer. Bailys and Godiva are my faves. If you want something really pretty for desert there are sorbetes in actual fruit rinds/peels that are very pretty but pricy. Just remember that presentation is half the battle. Best of luck

What would you do if you woke up and your housemates had put a goose in the backyard?

Well, this happened to me this morning! I'm not kidding. I am dead serious! I went to use the back door this morning to let my terrier out; and lo and behold, there was a goose standing there honking or quacking or whatever a goose does. I know it's a pet because they have filled a small play pool with water for it and I have since seen my housemate put it in the shed. They didn't mention they were getting a goose. Is it normal for me to be upset or am I overreacting? I haven't spoken to them about it yet because, frankly, I don't know what to say, 'Hey, where did the goose come from?' or 'I see we have a new addition to the household'. I know, you are probably laughing on the floor right now but, they are getting freakier and freakier! I honestly am considering moving but my credit is shot from huge student loan payments and struggling after a divorce. The stupid part is that the housemate was yelling and banging around in the kitchen last week because she was sick of getting my pet's fur all over her, even though my cat has been recovering from having a tumour removed. Nevertheless, out of courtesy (or fear), I've have had my pets locked in the bedroom thinking they can always go out in the backyard to play and get exercise, but then this goose thing happens. My housemates, I have found out, seem to be lack compion for others and are starting to seem quite narcissistic, and a bit like lunatics, to say the least. It's just too weird for me. In addition, they got an international student in here claiming that we, including me, would help teach him English, but I never agreed to that! I am only 18 and recently had a STROKE??

I asked on here last week what some might think of when I said that I had lost my balance basically on the left side of my body -- I felt like I would run into a wall on my left all the time. Homemade baby food?

My donkey bites and chases my stallion!!!!?

Ok my donkey is a big baby. He has never shown any aggression to anyone or any horse we've had before, not even the little pony we had. We have this very sweet, gentle paint stallion. We got him about 6 months ago, for the past 2 months or so my donkey has been bitting, chasing and jumping on our paint. Poncho (our paint) doen't do anything to instagate the donkeys behavior. I do, was wondering what were yours? My story, I got Indonesian parents but I was raised and born in Australia. When I go to Indonesia, I don't really like it and don't feel much connection while in Australia life is good, but still no connection culturally. The odd thing is the place I do connect with is the Balkans (e.g. Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina). I'm even learning Croatian (my Croatian teacher was surprised to why I joined), I love listening to Turbofolk (music popular in this region but generally unliked by foreigners) and I seem to understand humour and cultural quirks from this area (I try retelling everyone else and they don't get it). Do you ever feel the same, like you are say Danish but you feel Chinese? Please share!

You could try those at home drug tests, but I highly doubt they are as accurate as ones they use in a lab. Test your urine first thing in the morning, so it will be really concentrated, to see if the test picks it up, see how sensitive it is. I wouldn't trust it though-but I'd love to know the results, so email me k? By the way, you can drink all the cranberry juice and water you want, but its not going to do s**t for you, and if your urine is too diluted, they will either know you were trying to cover something up, or they will make you take the test over. Using someone else's urine, I don't know if you'd be able to smuggle it in, they check you (not a strip search, but you know, pockets and stuff) and they stand outside the door while you are peeing. Plus, the lab checks the temperature of the sample, so if you use someone else's, and you manage to get it in, you'd better make sure its fresh and straight out the oven, because some cold pee isn't going to cut it. Your body weight and fat percentage, it doesn't matter, no one can use those figures and come up with a yes or no answer for you. I don't care why you smoke, its none of my bidniss, buy If you are being tested in a couple of days, no I do not think you are going to p, because you smoked, what, 10 days ago? For 2 weeks straight? I'm at the end of my tether with a problem lasting roughly three years. I've suffered from recurring bouts of BV since the age of 19 (I am now 22). It effects my daily life and self esteem. I get respite during my periods (unusual for BV but at least I know what to do during those seven days and therefore smell a lot cleaner). I think I contracted it when I first had unprotected with my then long-term boyfriend (we've split up since, in 2009). I'm afraid to go to the salon to get waxed. I'm afraid to sit down for too long in case the smell wafts up. My panties are often damp after wearing them for a few hours. It's disgusting. I've been to an STD clinic twice about it, and both times got the all clear for other infections and got given antibiotics, which only helped for about a week after the course was finished. I've been using plain yoghurt tampons and taking lactobacillus acidophilius tablets, along with folic acid tablets, over the past few days and there seems to be a big improvement but does this mean I have to continue doing this for the rest of my life? I've met someone new who I really like and who likes me but the idea of taking everything to the next level when I have this condition seems like hell, I can't explain it to him. Even my ex used to complain (before I found out what it was), and so as a result I went through a phase of washing three or four times a day, which in retrospect probably made it worse. I'm 22 now and I've read a lot about bacterial vaginosis and I know that it can cause problems with fertility and childbirth, which worries me even more. My sister has been stealing from my house for years, what should i do?

My sister is 10 years older than me, for at least 4-1/2 years she has been getting in to my house and stealing money, among other things from me. I do not have a lot, but what I have is mine & I have worked very hard for it. When cash began disappearing from "hiding places" in my house, I first began to blame my teenage boys for it. I had even caught her red-handed a couple of times. In the past year, there has been an incident with her sister-in-law. They had a big "falling out" details about which I was not privy, until today. I called her sister-in-law and found out the reason she had "banished" my sister from her & her mother's home was because, for about 5 years, there had been some question about missing $ in various settings: her daughter's shower, wedding, and her mother's home. She could not believe my sister would do such a thing; they had always been so close. But so many instances had occurred, that she hooked up a surveillance camera in her mother's room & caught my sister on tape. She confronted her brother (my sis's husband) & got nowhere. I similarly spoke to him and their children, to no avail. Last Wednesday it happened again. I had stashed $75 cash in a crystal bowl...& my son said it was a bad idea knowing my kitchen door lock was broken, I should've listened to him...after working a 10-1/2 hour day, I came home to find $35 where I had left the cash the night before. A random thief would take ALL the cash, not to mention various other valuables. I know the old saying, "the only thing locks do is keep your friends honest." But this is ridiculous. She has diagnosed anxiety problems & I believe severe depression. This is a problem everyone is ignoring. I can't do it anymore. I don't know what to do. It does sound like he is getting a respiratory infection. There isn't really anything you can do besides take him to the vet. Respiratory infections can turn into pneumonia if left untreated, so take him as soon as you get the chance so he can be put on some antibiotics. Most vets will work out a payment plan with you if the money is a concern. Don't use any kinds of nose spray or anything like that though, it probably wouldn't be good for him.

When we hang out, I always pay for him because I know he works harder for his money and lives without the support of his parents. He's always asking me to buy him things and I buy it for him. sorry to tell you this but they can ban game consoles for any reason they want. If doesn't have to bother people or take up much room whatever they say is final. If you wanted to have it in your say dorm room that is a different story since that is your personal space but even then it is owned by the school but since you are renting you have some rights. Best to off school boarding then they can't touch you or restrict anything. However in your case this room the common room is own by the college so they can say what or what can't be brought in regardless of how stupid it might seem to you. Hi. I take Lithium and some other meds for bipolar. I've had a drink here and there, but not more than one or two. The two was spread out, btw. I've lost my tolerance. Lithium and alcohol has a lot to do with dehydration. Dehydration drives up the serum level and if you do so enough, you become toxic. Alcohol causes dehydration. I'd bet while drinking your three and for some time after, you became dehydrated and your Li level went up. That could explain why you started tossing your cookies and the shakes. Naturally, a nasty headache would go along with it. In short, I think you were close to or not in the toxic range. Be glad you still have your kidneys. And, although you warned off the kids' comments on not holding your booze, if you haven't been drinking for months, your tolerance probably is less than it was. However, I doubt that had much of anything to do with your experience. So, if you go out for a few again, drink a decent sized gl of water between each and a big one after and another before you go to bed. Think of it as hangover planning since the same strategy works for those, too.

Okay here goes. I have a coworker whom I was really close friends with. Overall, he's nice, but he's extremely immature and is kind of a jerk. 87 f-150 Will not start.?

Battery, cables, solenoid and starter are new. The truck turned over and ran up to 2000 rpm which was odd and I heard a slight clunking sound, pretty dull but enough to get my attention, then the motor shut off and will not turn over. I know there is no reason for concern yet..this is my 3rd baby..just never had a baby not head down and ready by 31 weeks...Yesterday at my ultrasound the tech said that baby was good, 4 lbs, looks good on all measurements..but is still breech. So, my question is...this far along with him that big..will it hurt when he turns to go head down? Doesn't seem like he would have that much room now...

my boyfriend of 9 months went out 3 weekends ago and had a lot to drink. He takes depakote 500 (epelepisy medicine) and becomes a different person when he drinks alcohol. His personality changes completely. He was at a friends house and a woman came on to him and kissed him in the middle of a conversation they were having. the kiss only lasted a few seconds before she moved down to his neck and began to give him a hickey. He said - at the time she was doing this... all he could remember was his head went fell back and his eyes rolled in the back of his head. When she moved to the other side of his neck, he came to and told her to stop and that he can't do this. When he realized what he had done, he put a stop to it. His reaction time is alot slower when he is as drunk. He also has no control over any situation when he's drunk. He realizes drinking is a major problem and in order to make our relationship work he can't drink anymore. So do i give him a chance?

Computer Help Please!!!!!!!?

Here we go I have been ripping dvd's to my external using my laptop. This morning I got up and my computer was configuring updates so I let it be I got home from work and realized my comp. had restarted so I went into my external to get the program that I have been using to rip and realized that the folder had been deleted along with my picture folder (had every picture taken for last three years) and my kids movies folders. then I realized that some of the files that I have recently ripped are saying they are corrupt and unreadable. Now I havn't done anything to this so I need to know is there a way to retrieve my folders and how do I make my movies work again. Please help

Why am i darker then most of my family ?

so, before you read anything else and get the misconceptions that i'm racist or look down upon a certain ethnicity. i don't. so my question is i get mistaken for mexican frequently, and i don't see nothing bad about it. i actually sometimes wish i was mexican because they always have things going on like quinceneras and stuff and many friends i have are mexican and their parents are really fun to be around. but my dad's parents are that his dad is from spain (murcia, to be exact) and his mom was from sicily (palermo). they immigrated to jalisco in mexico in the early 60's and didn't migrate to the states because they said there was just too much sh!t going on at the time. so my dad and his siblings were born and raised in mexico but were of spaniard and italian descent. and on my mom's side her mom was puerto rican and her dad was white (german). but my question is that why am i darker then most of my family (except my puerto rican side) my little sister who is 6; has light brown hair, skin the same shade's as selena gomez's and hazel eyes. and my brother who is 12 or 13; i'm not really sure lol has olivish skin, light brown hair and green eyes. both my parents are in olivish skin category. i was born with really light brown hair but for some reason my hair turned a slighty darker to almost dark brown, and i have light brown eyes. here's a picture of when i was a baby - a href="http://i55.tinypic.com/2vba8sn.jpg" rel="nofollow"http://i55.tinypic.com/2vba8sn.jpg/a - and now i'm pretty tan but not as dark as a traditional mexican. i have like a goldish brown tan, people say i fake and bake which i've never done in my life! (i'm scared to do so after watching that one movie where the two girls die in the tanning beds) lmfao. but why am i tan? i mean the lightest i ever got was an olivish tan when i lived more upstate (washington) and was still pretty tan. is it just that i got the puertorican genes more then my siblings? i do know that my great grandparents on my mom's side were really tan. i don't even know if this made any sense whatsoever but if you do understand what i mean, please give me a mature and honest answer. and yes i do know that spaniards and italians are light, i've been to both places plenty of times and my sicilian family says i fit right in because they're all slightly tanner the italians up north.
