Is it true that you can buy property on the moon?

I don't remember where I read it, but I recall reading that you could buy land on the moon for 60 cents an acre. That price is likely outdated, but is it true you can, and if you did and humans eventually colonized the moon, would the property still be yours? Like could you charge people for living on it?
