Is it legal to ban video game consoles from college campus?

sorry to tell you this but they can ban game consoles for any reason they want. If doesn't have to bother people or take up much room whatever they say is final. If you wanted to have it in your say dorm room that is a different story since that is your personal space but even then it is owned by the school but since you are renting you have some rights. Best to off school boarding then they can't touch you or restrict anything. However in your case this room the common room is own by the college so they can say what or what can't be brought in regardless of how stupid it might seem to you. Does sound like an school but if you really wanted to play games just do it in your own room with your friends. BTW very few people would say you are bothering them if you turn around and ask them right then and there for two reasons they don't want to sound like they are or complaining so they say no or they are afraid you would kick their *** or just afraid to offend you. So asking them is not enough. Obviously someone probably has complain to the school maybe only a few but somebody most likely had. I do agree with you that they seem bias against you guys. Since you don't take up much space. However they fear that you might complain or sue them if you property happened to be broken or stolen.So they don't want you to bring anything expensive like your game console and monitor. If you sign a paper saying you would not sue them for damages if such things were to occur they might let you have your game system there I don't know just maybe. It wouldn't hurt to approach them from that angle. They still might say no. If you really feel unjust treatment and think you can sue them then go talk to a lawyer and see what they have to say.
