It does sound like he is getting a respiratory infection. There isn't really anything you can do besides take him to the vet. Respiratory infections can turn into pneumonia if left untreated, so take him as soon as you get the chance so he can be put on some antibiotics. Most vets will work out a payment plan with you if the money is a concern. Don't use any kinds of nose spray or anything like that though, it probably wouldn't be good for him.
