As far as your sister is concerned, she's not the head of the household so you were right in asking your parents. I may would've told her "hey Chris is coming with us", but I certainly wouldn't have asked permission. Also, I've learned that you should be careful who you tell what to because it makes it a very uncomfortable position if you and the person you trashed talk (not saying you did, but just speaking in general) are hanging out again after you've ended the relationship (no matter who it is: boyfriend, girlfriend, best friend...)
