Is Ramipril a good option for a patient with high creatinine and high protinurea?
Ramipril has a renoprotective effect. Means it protect the kidney. But, it also can damage the kidney in some other way. That's why in every patient that was started on ramipril or perindopril, they should check their urea and creatinine after 2 weeks time. If there is increase > 30%, the doctor should stop the medications. If not, they are suggested to continue the meds because of the renoprotective effect of ramipril. So, that, your kidney won't worsening or the destruction process will be much much slower.
